It poured for Heather + Scott’s wedding. I mean, all the rain. It could have been a nightmare, I’m sure in someways it probably was for certain vendors and of course for Heather and Scott. Their City Park ceremony had to be cancelled entirely and moved to Marche, the reception venue. I was not privey to any of the actions that went into making the switch, but from where I was standing, things turned out beautifully! The one thing that couldn’t be fixed though, there was absolutely no way we could manage the dreamy, outdoor portraits that Heather and Scott desired for their big day. Enter, Day After Session. Enter second day hair. Enter leftover make up. Enter all the hangovers and sleepy expressions. Enter sunshine and satisfaction.
Please, please don’t let rain ruin your big day. Whatever weather you wind up with, trust your vendors and your photographer to make the most of it. After all, nothing from your day can be replicated. No step you make will ever be repeated. The rain, hail, wind, sun, heat, cold, snow, it all goes into telling a story that is yours and yours alone. I was ever so impressed with how gracefully Heather and Scott dealt with the last minute decisions and changes and even more so with the fact that they were able to rouse themselves early the next morning to make this unforgettable session happen. You won’t see any rain here, but every time I look at these photos I am reminded of how a chaotic and wild day can be punctuated with a peaceful and joyful finale.
